I choose only premium quality pine that I cut to 4" x 5.5" and is 3/4" thick. I use quality interior satin finish paint in red or brown. I print and permanently apply the design, followed by adding matching paint around the edges of the design to blend it into the painted wood. I sand the edges for a slightly worn look.
